Big Dipper Ranch is located in the mountains of Southern Washington in the heart of the Columbia Gorge. Our winters are very harsh and last 5 months(or longer), which makes our Highlands very well suited for life here. With temperatures regularly into the single digits and lower they really need thier heavy coats. We started our farm in 2002 raising sheep and pigs to become self sufficient. We were new to farming and started slowly, but when we found the right animals to start our Highland breeding program in 2006 we jumped right in. We are a small farm and believe a small herd with exceptional genetics will produce consistently superior breeding stock and beef product. We raise only registered stock, and are always looking for the next piece of the puzzle to accentuate our powerful genetics. Our animals are naturally raised and humanely handled from birth. Our farm offers consistently superior meat products including beef, pork and lamb. It has always been a family farm and has been an adventure from the beginning.
